Tinubu Reshuffles Military Leadership, Names New Service Chiefs | 24th October, 2025
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a new structure for the leadership of the Nigerian Armed Forces, a move aimed at reinforcing the nation’s security system.
In a statement issued on Friday by his Special Adviser on
Media and Public Communication, Mr. Sunday Dare, the Presidency said the change
“comes in continuation of the government’s commitment to strengthening
Nigeria’s national security architecture.”
With the latest appointments, General Olufemi Oluyede
becomes the Chief of Defence Staff, succeeding General Christopher Musa.
Major-General W. Shaibu takes charge as the Chief of Army Staff, Air Vice
Marshal S.K. Aneke assumes the position of Chief of Air Staff, while Rear
Admiral I. Abbas steps in as the Chief of Naval Staff. Major-General E.A.P.
Undiendeye will continue to serve as the Chief of Defence Intelligence.
Mr. Dare noted that President Tinubu expressed appreciation
to the outgoing military chiefs for their years of “dedicated and patriotic
service” to the nation.
“The President, as Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces,
commends their contributions to national stability and security,” the statement
said.
